Just thinking about becoming a freelancer will not get you there, its going to take work, hard work.

One of the biggest misconceptions about freelancing is that work comes to you.

“There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing and be nothing.” Aristotle

I hate to break it to you, but working as a freelancer means working. Sometimes working harder than being employed.  It’s not stable until YOU have made it that way.

Here are some steps to help you along the way. Your first few days, weeks and months are probably going to be challenging, and likely to take everything you’ve got, don’t quit your day job until you are doing well with the freelancing.”

To start off, you will never be successful if you don’t have the experience or working knowledge. In other words, you can’t wake up in the morning and “decide today I am going to be a web designer or WordPress expert.” If you don’t have the qualifications.  You need to know your craft and know it well.

You need to be prepared to become a freelancer.

How?

1) Sell your service. It’s free.

I cannot say this enough its free, place your ad. You will not be seen on our site if you don’t have your advert up, registering is for your benefit, and it’s to gain access to your profile. The adverts are for the buyers and your benefit. This is so they can see your talent, see your profile and contact you for more questions and offers/quotes.

Be willing to take on work straight away for these reasons:

  • Experience
  • Earnings
  • References

Here we just want to include a note for those of you who have already started freelancing on other sights you are probably paying 20% com from your earnings this site we have cut that down to 15% com. Also your withdrawal time is less most sights have a 14 day waiting period we are have 7 days.

Keep yourself fresh in people’s minds and be their go-to person when they need a professional in your field this site is relatively young it will not always be that way, get in now so that you are established.

2)Work on YOUR Personal Brand

So what does your personal brand have to do with it?

The reason?

YOU ARE YOUR BRAND.

What do we mean when we say you are your brand?

We mean that when you are selling your services, you are actually selling yourself, its how you come across online it reflects your success, your ability, and your professionalism. Your personality counts, so be professional.

So, how do you build your personal brand?

  1. We sold our service, we placed an ad on the website. We fully filled out our profile. Every single detail of our experience.
  2. We then contacted support and asked them to help us find clients that were looking for our specific talents. support@gigsforgrabs.com
  3. Don’t be shy, you want to succeed its okay to ask for help, that’s what we are here for.

Asking and answering questions is the easiest way to get people involved and invested in what you do.

Make yourself:

  • Easy to find
  • Easy to remember
  • Easy to work with

Just remember not to get discouraged if you don’t get interested clients instantly. What’s important is that quality wins over quantity every time. Stay focused, stay targeted and talk to every new connection in a professional manner and quickly.

3)Write a Plan of Action

Never, undervalue time taken to plan.

Make goals.

Even Hannibal from the A team said: “I love it when a plan comes together.”

Sometimes it is simply to plan out the next step.

Also draft and redraft a personal business plan.

It’s ok to be scared, in fact if you’re not, you’re either invincible or not to bright, so keep your eyes open, know your limits, and plan accordingly.

Also have in your plan of action:

  • How much should I charge?
  • Which clients are best suited to me?
  • How difficult is it to close a deal?
  • Should I template my pitches or create new ones every time?

I bird in the hand is better than two in the bush!!!

4)Look at your Competition.

There is always, always going to be competition. At the end of the day, we found that it is most helpful taking a real good look at what your competition are doing.

Here are three things that may help you:

  1. Find your completion and see their profile ad. Are they marketing effectively and if so how can you change your marketing to be more effective?
  2. People are pressed for time, this world is busy and we don’t have the time to pour through hundreds of candidates. Make yourself stand out and available.
  3. Usually people will go for the most colorful advert and then read the contents so make yours Bling Bling!!

“When working, forget about your competitors and focus on your clients!”

Truthfully, we couldn’t agree more. Your job is to perform better than everyone else in your field.

Don’t be guarded, learn what you can from your competitors and then keep doing it better.

Freelancing can be a bit lonely sometimes, you don’t have that office environment, so keep busy!!

And finally….

What’s that final nugget of understanding you need to open the doors to your impending financial freedom?

Simply put: each man or woman’s puzzle is different. There is no one solution, there is no one path. Understanding how the pieces fit together is what will guarantee your success.

If you’re looking for an easy fix or easy way out let me tell you, it doesn’t exist. It’s your ability to understand the bigger picture.

What will make you successful is knowing how to apply who you are to what you want to do to the best of your ability.

Freelancing is something you really have to want, and be prepared to work hard for. It is unrivalled because inevitably you will be doing something that you love and on your terms.

So live it, love it and work hard at it!
